The CVOR Anesthesia Technician assists the cardiac anesthesiologist with administration and monitoring of anesthesia and has an extensive knowledge of cardiac anesthesia techniques, instruments, supplies and technology. Supports anesthesiologists and mid-levels with invasive and non-invasive monitoring, advanced line preparation and placement. Provides equipment testing, calibration, trouble shooting, cleaning and disinfecting. Assists all members of the cardiac surgery team throughout the operative continuum.
Required
High school diploma or equivalent.
Undergraduate courses toward health related sciences.
Knowledge of cardiovascular anesthesia pertaining to physics, equipment operation, equipment care, and anesthesia accessories.
Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology, advanced hemodynamics and sterile technique and asepsis.
BCLS certification.
Knowledge of advanced cardiac arterial/venous line preparation.
Knowledge of advanced airway techniques and equipment.
Knowledge of safe patient positioning for cardiovascular surgery.
Personal computer skills.
Interpersonal communication skills with associates, physicians, customers.
Capable of ordering and maintain supplies.
Knowledge of medical ethics.
Good vision, hearing and manual dexterity; ability to transfer patients safely from stretcher/bed to operating room table. Technical Competencies: - Invasive and non-invasive monitoring - Sterile and aseptic technique - Advanced arterial/venous line preparation - Vascular ultrasound unit and probes - Glidescope - Bronchoscopy prep and care - Transesphogeal ultrasound unit and probe - Belmont rapid infusion unit - Level 1Hot line infusion unit - Alaris IV pumps - Medtronic temporary pacemaker - Cerebral Oximetry
Preferred
Completion of professional program (LPN or EMT, etc.) preferred.
Minimum of two years of cardiovascular anesthesia tech experience preferred.
