Talent Shortage and Technology Investments are still two major business challenges for companies globally. In WSJ on Friday, they discuss the approach taken by the major players to address their growing capital needs and stifle the rising costs of recruiting and retaining talent. Candidates on the market don't often prioritise getting equity in a new role, so it's not the main selling point of an offer, if in it at all. Paradoxically, it tends to be the reason a candidate won't leave their current role.When assisting clients with offers, the prevailing mindset often revolves around what incentives can attract candidates to join (e.g., sign-on bonus, High base). Perhaps it's time to shift focus towards offering comprehensive compensation packages that encourage long-term commitment from potential hires.https://lnkd.in/gS8PepDX

I could not agree more with the sentiment here from Kyra Wyman (a great legal recruiter for any of my TA life sciences connections). In addition, while I am all for the advancement of recruitment tech and the implementation of AI, in the end, recruitment is a people business. Building a relationship with your candidate and client gives you a deeper understanding of whether the pairing will be a fit. Having a recruiter who connects with the best in their space day after day can shorten a hiring process significantly because they know the shortcuts to the best candidate. On holiday, you hire a tour guide because they know the city inside out and will bring you to the best spots.Hire a recruiter who knows their market inside out, and they will bring you the best talent.
